If you decide you want the full experience I would suggest playing original Myst, realMyst and then Riven. RealMyst does have more detail in comparison to the original Myst and does have smoother transitions by having realtimes graphics and will let you view things at angles you cannot in original Myst and also has the additional Rime age not in the original.
